Meeting RecapFor those of you that missed the pack meeting on February 19, I would like to recap. First, there were no announcements this month. Thanks to the Madison Fire Department we did have a great meeting covering general safety and first aid. First thing to go over is fire safety. Our guest speaker discussed what to do in case there is a fire. Make sure you have a plan where to meet your family. After all, the boy scout motto is be prepared. Fire needs three things to keep going. Those three things are the following:
Remember that if the door is hot, that means that there is a fire on the other side of the door. Firemen have approximately twenty-five minutes worth of oxygen in their tank if needed. They can change into their fireman suits in one minute if there's an emergency. Next, we discussed CPR. CPR is used when someone is not breathing and has no pulse. When used, it can save someones life. To perform you push on the victom's chest fast and hard as possible. If it is a pet-related emergency, you can use it on that pet. We actually learned of an example of how a fireman saved a cat's life using CPR. Now that cat only has 8 more lives! After that, we discussed how you can prevent getting injured. Most injuries are preventable. If you don't want bicycle accidents to be so serious, wear a helmet. For cars to be safe, you should wear your seat belt correctly, meaning to have the shoulder strap over your shoulder. Our next meeting will be on March 18. Please do not forget that the Blue and gold banquet will be on February 25 at 11:30 AM. Those of you who know our Flickr account, please include photos. |
